SC Masters News

Golden Masters was held at Wilding Park on the 6,7 and 8th July. This being the 65+ tournament we entered a team of 4 men and 4 women with a reserve.Luckily we were indoors as the weather was atrocious . Our Sth Canterbury team were 4th out of 6 teams . We drew with Marlborough 4 all ,and happily  won on a count back of games, and we also beat North Otago 5-3. It was an excellent tournament, capably led by Irene Emond and Malcolm Strang with help from Lyndsay Dick.

The last match of this season was held on July 19th with Canterbury coming down to play us at the tennis Centre. The newly donated cup honouring  Terry Taylor ,our amazing fellow tennis mate and past president for 19 years was won by Canterbury 15-1 and presented to the captain of their team. Terry was a very generous man and a great stalwart of Masters Tennis and having a cup with a horse shoe and tennis racquets combined will keep his memory alive.  This cup is to be kept at the Tennis Centre in the trophy cupboard. Heather Hume made an amazing lunch ,ably assisted by Ann Moyle.

It is hoped that we can attract some younger players to join Masters, and to help us win a few more matches.
